Biography

Tanith completed the Diploma of Opera course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music after having attained her Bachelor of Music. She was also awarded a distinction in her Licentiate of Music. She has appeared as a soprano soloist in numerous orchestral works, some of which include: J.S.Bach’s St John Passion, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, The Creation, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Great Mass in c minor, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia and Handel’s Messiah.

Tanith has competed successfully in many eisteddfods and competitions. She was a finalist in the Australian Singing Competition Mathy Awards in 2003 and the winner of the National Eisteddfod Aria 2005. She has also been a national finalist in numerous Opera Foundation Awards, including: Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship (2005 & 2007), Barilla Italian Scholarship (2005), and The German Opera Foundation Award (2006 & 2007). Tanith now adjudicates at eisteddfods Australia wide.

Tanith has performed the roles of Mimi (La Boheme – Puccini), Marjorie in Drew Crawford’s Australian premiere of his opera Eugene and Roie, Despina (Cosi fan Tutte – Mozart), Lucy (The Beggar’s Opera – Britten), Nerina (La Fedelta Premiata – Haydn), and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus – J. Strauss). She has worked with Opera Australia in many of their productions, including: Cosi fan tutte, Falstaff, Turandot, Carmina Burana / Chichester Psalms , Jenufa, Tannhauser, Un Ballo in Maschera, La Forza del Destino,Otello, Lucia di Lammermoor, Aida, The Mikado, Carmen, Die Tote Stadt, La Traviata and performed the role of Isobel in Pirates of Penzance.
