Biography

Tanith completed the Diploma of Opera course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music after having attained her Bachelor of Music. She was also awarded a distinction in her Licentiate of Music. She has appeared as a soprano soloist in numerous orchestral works, some of which include: J.S.Bach’s St John Passion, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, The Creation, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Great Mass in c minor, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia and Handel’s Messiah.

Tanith has performed the roles of Mimi (La Boheme – Puccini), Marjorie in Drew Crawford’s Australian premiere of his opera Eugene and Roie, Despina (Cosi fan Tutte – Mozart), Lucy (The Beggar’s Opera – Britten), Nerina (La Fedelta Premiata – Haydn), and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus – J. Strauss). She has worked with Opera Australia in many of their productions, including: Cosi fan tutte, Falstaff, Turandot, Carmina Burana / Chichester Psalms , Jenufa, Tannhauser, Un Ballo in Maschera, Otello, Lucia di Lammermoor, Aida, The Mikado and performed the role of Isobel in Pirates of Penzance.

Tanith has competed successfully in many eisteddfods and competitions. She was a finalist in the Australian Singing Competition Mathy Awards in 2003 and the winner of the National Eisteddfod Aria 2005.She has also been a national finalist in numerous Opera Foundation Awards, including: Covent Garden National Opera Studio Scholarship (2005 & 2007), Barilla Italian Scholarship (2005), and The German Opera Foundation Award (2006 & 2007)
